Donald Trump Jr. marked Halloween by tweeting that he would redistribute his child's candy to "teach her about socialism." and Twitter users felt it was inappropriate to use his three-year-old daughter to make a political point so they called him out for it.
On Tuesday evening, President Trump's eldest son shared a photo of his daughter dressed as a police officer and carrying a bucket of candy
He wrote: "I'm going to take half of Chloe's candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It's never to (sic) early to teach her about socialism."
A number of people, especially liberals, criticised Trump Jr's tweets.
The socialist magazine Jacobin tweeted a screenshot of Trump Jr.'s tweet and wrote: "Just wait until she finds out about capital income!"
Twitter user @Bearpigman went on to school Trump Jr, telling him that socialism was more similar to children getting free candy from trick-or-treating than it was to her father taking her candy.
Others pointed out that he wasn’t describing socialism, but sharing, which is something most children are taught to do. His tweet over 61,000 replies, most of them calling him out.
Even Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowlings weighed in on Trump Jr's tweet.
